Dear Wrinkles

Dear wrinkles.

Thank you for being all the times I was amazed and opened my eyes a little wider to see more and see better.
Thank you for being all the times I had to scrunch up my eyes a little thinner so I could see less things in order to see one thing closer and see it better.
Thank you for being all the times I laughed so hard my face crumpled into archipelagos of shaking joy.
Thank you for being all the times I was so deeply bored my face sagged in unplanned and outrageous protest.
Thank you for being all the times I wondered if I was mad and let my face follow that thought into dark burrows of fear-sorrow.
Thank you for being all the times I breathed so slow that you lay still for a while.
Thank you for being all the times my body gave itself up to someone’s warm touch and their light danced in you.
Thank you for being all the times I was so humbled that I made you curl up in order to listen better.
Thank you for all the times you let the sun, wind and rain come along with us.
Thank you for holding all this in the shallow palm of your long thin elegant hands.
