ENTWINED: AN ART WORK CREATED BY COVID LONG-HAULERS
May 8, 2021
*** CALL OUT TO TAKE PART ***
Hello lovely people.
If you have arrived here and you too are a Covid Long-hauler then I salute you!
I know how lonely and hard this journey can be and so I’m happy to share an invitation with you to be part of a communal art project with other Long-haulers.
ENTWINED – A crocheted (and some not crocheted) quilt made by all of us!
On a particularly bad symptom day I followed the below video and made my first ever crochet square. I felt VERY proud. I was looking at the crochet quilts made of many different squares and I had a happy daydream of a quilt that contains squares made by lots of the brave and brilliant Long Covid folk out there – there are so many of us! I decided I’d give it a try.
Depending on who sends me squares it will be as big or as small as it is meant to be. I’m hoping that in colours and threads it will tell the story of the many hands and hearts living with this illness.
I have been promised some really exciting places to exhibit it if we get lots of squares but truthfully I’ll be happy to even get one.
Eventually I’d like to gift our joined squares as an artwork to a hospital of our choosing.
Click here to watch the great video I learnt from.
It does not need to be ‘good’. Give yourself permission for it to be the best you can do – our energy is limited after all! It took me about an hour and I had to start again at least once.
I DON’T WANT TO CROCHET: If crochet doesn’t feel like your medium I’d encourage you to try but if you still feel no then please by all means send me a square that is made in a way that suits you. The painters can paint squares, the poets write… as long as the material is soft and sewable then it will be very happily included.
6 inches by 6 inches please. All colours and techniques are great.
Size is the only important thing!

If you’d like to include your name and where you’re from – anonymous is also totally good – I’ll keep a map of the squares and whose is whose.
I’ll share on here and on Instagram (caroline_mary_williams) the blanket’s progress, and always feel free to get in touch with me about the project.
MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT AS ALWAYS.
The picture is of my go. It has a lot of mistakes but I still love it. It looks forward to meeting your square…
